At Tenaris working safely is an employment condition. As part of our safety program, we work constantly to improve our performance in all aspects of safety. We upgrade the physical conditions of the workplace by continuously investing in new technologies, infrastructure and maintenance.

We believe that accidents do not occur by chance. All injuries and work-related illnesses can and must be prevented. We organize and conduct extensive risk prevention analyses, internal inspections, internal audits, safety comities and global safety reports at all our plants. Benchmarking analyses and related information is regularly distributed and discussed at all levels.

Regarding accident prevention, we work to encourage safe attitudes and behavior in order to raise awareness of attitudes that improve safety. We do this through innovative programs that reward safe behavior and by holding meetings with managers, safety staff and workers at each plant to discuss accidents and share ideas for improving safety conditions. Also, safety tours take place frequently in our plants to promote continuous improvement programs aimed to better the working environment.

Meanwhile, monthly global safety reports serve as a constant look out. In Tenaris the most typical accidents are hand-related. In each plant, campaigns frequently take place to further consciousness among all employees.

Last but not least, safety-related information is widespread in all our plants through an integrated information system. This allows us to analyze a complete status report about risks, and incident levels in each plant. We believe that together we can create better safety conditions.

Through the constant attention to safety and the improvement of working conditions at all our facilities we have succeed in reducing the total accident frequency rate in Tenaris by two thirds over the past four years as well as the lost time accident rate. Nevertheless we recognize that there is much more we can do and we will continue to work to bring down the accident level frequency. We believe in a zero accident workplace.
